Observation notes: I've been looking for this guy all summer. This day was looking typical, seeing all the common species. As the trail moved into a riparian community, I spotted a lone wild sunflower blossom alongside the trail, and thought it might be a magnet for some butterfly. Turned out as I got closer there was indeed something on it - this guy. The day was sunny but not overly warm. Air still. Many Marine Blues nearby. Most of the larger butterflies I saw were moving and would not sit still for photos. There's a variety of species in these small wild areas nestled between housing / landscaping. But only occasionally will I be able to photograph a more reclusive specie such as this one. I videoed this one, and the snapshot is the closest frame I got before it flew off.
