Observation notes: Several of these Elfins were seen fluttering way above our heads, (over 20 feet high), around the ends of branches of a younger Ponderosa Pine, then landing briefly amid the outermost needle clusters. It was a warm, sunny day, with temperatures in the low 70's degree F. Locality was near the parking lot and main entryway to the woodland trails in Shevlin Park, Bend, Oregon. (Photo by Ron Larson)
