Observation notes: This butterfly was photographed attached to vegetation near a waterfowl impoundment, along the Birding Trail (Miller Island Unit) of the Klamath Wildlife Area. It was the only Admiral butterfly seen. Weather was sunny & warm. Nearby were stinging nettles - a known host plant.
