Observation notes: I've never seen this population of Common Ringlet before with such prominent and striking spotting and patterns on the underwings - quite beautiful.

Coordinator notes: Your ID is correct...in western Colorado the spots on the submargin of the hindwings sometimes tend to be more prominent. I would consider this one exceptional in that regard and makes a very nice photo! Genetics on these ringlets are distinct from European/Eurasian C. tullia and that in North America tullia is restricted to the high arctic. At lower latitudes ours belong to C. california but the BAMONA list is unchanged at present. Mike
