Observation notes: Observed many of these butterflies in a meadow along the Oak Flat Trail in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Weather was clear and sunny, light breeze, and warm, about 70 degrees.

Coordinator notes: Your suggested ID is correct...a male. The only host for this blue is Lupine and a better common name is the Lupine Blue. The blue we have been calling the "Lupine Blue" (Plebejus or Icaricia lupini) feeds only on buckwheat (Eriogonum) and was mistakenly thought to use lupine as it host (a long time ago). Mike
