Observation notes: Return trip in the afternoon. I had targeted this area due to two reports there June 9, 2020. The gravel pit with the puddle reported before was barren of butterflies. However, the family who own the land invited me to go down to a corral through a locked gate. Obviously this is private property. There were several California Buckeye trees in full bloom. I identified about 15 species of butterflies over the next couple of hours nectaring on the blossoms. There were a number of skippers present--hard to count due to disappearing acts. I'll be submitting several for review.
