Observation notes: Butterfly landed on the end of canoe atop our car, while parked along West Side Road (near Mares Egg Spring). It mostly kept its wings closed while probing with its proboscis on the canoe. Every time a car passed, it flew up, but then returned to land on the same spot of the canoe (during a 20-minute observation)! Many other butterfly species were also seen flying along a grassy/wildflower area parallel to the roadway (swallowtails, skippers, & a Lorquin's Admiral). Weather was warm & sunny.
