Coordinator notes: My guess would be Amphipyra pyramidoides based on this photo -- https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/55550633 If you filter searches in iNat it is sometimes possible to come up with a likely ID, Don't depend on the initial suggested ID especially if the ID is specific. In this case, when I used a copy of your photo in iNat the initial suggestion was Cutworm Moths and Allies. Now that is a good start. By limiting the search to LaCrosse County, WI and limiting the time period (I selected April, May and June) this filter brought up 40 species which made it a lot easier to look for one that might be a possibility. Of the 40 options the Copper Underwing seemed the closest. Then I filtered the search for Copper Underwings in LaCrosse County but without limit to the months which brought up only seven photos of which the one referenced above looked like the best match. And in fact, that was a photo of yours from August 2020.
