Observation notes: Found many of these butterflies along the roadside from the first waterfall along the road all the way to the summit of Marys Peak. Most were in the grassland/meadow above the day use parking lot. Lots of yellow and purple flowered violet plants tucked among the tall grass. Estimate 100+ flying in the meadow. Some nectaring. Some appeared to be patroling a patches of grassland/meadow. Butterflies seemed to be choosing sunny places sheltered from the wind. The one in the photograph was feeding on Blue-flowered Gilla near the peak. Windy up there in the afternoon.
