Coordinator notes: I checked with the curators of the MPG caterpillar library. Their view is that this is one of the Apantesis sp. (so you're right about Arctiinae), but they just aren't sure which one. The life cycles of many of the Arctiinae are poorly documented. The curators pointed me to these entries on BugGuide, which seem to me to be of similar or identical caterpillars (from Arizona), but nobody has yet been able to identify them. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. This generic ID is the best I can come up with. JRains https://bugguide.net/node/view/1708852/bgimage https://bugguide.net/node/view/1590941/bgimage
