Observation notes: My dog alerted me to this amazing creature on the rock patio! He was traveling solo close to the house foundation in the shade when I took this picture. I went back outside about 15 minutes later and a bird had dragged him out into the sun and was pecking at him; some fluid was leaking from him and he was curling up. He wiggled a few times while I carefully moved him to some shaded ground cover, and was able to grip onto the ground. Hoping he makes a full recovery! 81 degrees, higher humidity for Colorado (31%) and coming off of several days of light rain. Yard hosts bindweed, day-lily, mica cap funghi, bilberry, and a ton of spirea shrubs.

Coordinator notes: Your ID of the caterpillar is correct...I don't ID moths (or moth larva) except when I know what they are as this one...primary host is grape vine...any around your patio spot? Mike
