Observation date: July 04, 2024
Submitted by: John Terpstra
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: two individuals foraging on Canada Goose feces along gravel trail through extensive marsh
Status: Resident
Verified by: jmgesell
Verified date: July 18, 2024
Coordinator notes: This individual seems pretty fresh except for the single bird damage on the HW, which would not be expected in P. canadensis at this time of year. This is likely one of the "Midsummer Tigers," a proposed separate species that appears after the canadensis flight. It shares characteristics of both glaucus and canadensis but is thought to be not a true hybrid. It is being labeled as "canadensis x glaucus" on BAMONA and iNat until further research can be conducted/finalized, which can be confusing because it seems to signal a hybrid. -jmgesell
