Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Found it on the concrete steps around 5:30 PM (MDST), in Lehi, Utah. Wing edges were really frayed and ragged and it seemed exhausted and unable to fly. Huge moth, biggest I've ever seen. Tried setting it on a paper towel saturated with water to see if it was dehydrated (it was close to 100 degrees F). Also tried watered down honey but all it could really do was stand there or flip over and get stuck on its back. It honestly seemed like it was on its last legs; it was dead by that night (11 PM MDST). From head to the end of its abdomen it was 2 inches, and from wing tip to wing tip it was 4.5 inches.
