Observation notes: It was perched on the siding of our house under the eaves about 20” from ground. The weather had been hot with thunderstorms all day. My husband climbed a ladder to work on house and was within one foot of it. He didn’t disturb it and it didn’t move. The wingspan was about 10”. We were shocked at how large it was! We live in Leland, NC near the river. Our property has a dedicated wildlife preserve.
