Observation notes: Near Cathedral Spires Trail in the Black Hills. Sunny day in the 90’s F. This one looks a little different from the other Fritillaries such as A. hesperis and A. edwardsii seen on the trip. Much lighter colored hindwing disc and different behavior as this one stayed in the forest undergrowth near a creek instead of visiting flowers or puddling areas in forest clearings.
