Observation notes: My last observation of the day, and spotted in a riparian glen within sight of the parking lot. This Lady-sized orange thing was behaving territorially and perching on what appeared to be a Willow of some sort in the half-sun. Perching 2-4 meters about the trail or flying in loose circles at head height. My first Comma sighting in San Diego County. Whether it's a Satyr Comma or a Hoary Comma I am not sure, but based on the dark marginal band in the forewing and the shape of the "comma" mark on the ventral forewing, I think it looks more loike a Hoary. Weather was slightly breezy, low 70's, and clear skies over the Penasquitos Canyon.
Reading up on the habitat of the two Commas in question, I don't see how it could possibly be a Hoary.
