Observation notes: Photographed feeding and basking on an Oregon thistle at 2,800 feet on the west side of the Metolius River in the central Oregon Cascades near the village of Camp Sherman. Hot sunny day, temperature in the low 90s. Apollos are rare this low in elevation in central Oregon, and are usually found in higher meadows.

Coordinator notes: Apollos do not occur in North America. Oregon has clodius and smintheus as its 2 Parnassian species. The 3rd species in North America is phoebus.
