Observation notes: There were half-a-dozen flying at this location. The first I have seen this year. Most were basking or nectaring. Marys Peak. Roadside habitat. Mixed conifer and deciduous forest with grassy, open edges along the road. Granite cliff, small stream and waterfall as well as mossy seeps along the rock wall. Understory of native perennials and shrubs. Bright sun in the morning, shade in late afternoon.
