Observation notes: I am guessing the identification based on the zigzags on the bottom wings under the spots. My window faces roughly north, with the butterfly in the shade at that time. Its flight was slightly erratic after take off later in the afternoon.
I have seen possibly the same butterfly on 8-28 with wings closed vertically in the late afternoon on a separate window, and on 8-31 briefly in the early afternoon in the same place as the picture, the latter was overcast.
