Coordinator notes: I have identified this female Checkered White just as that rather than a Western because the black on the upperside has a definite grayish aspect which mountain location Western Whites tend to be truly black-black trimmed (and males). The two can be separated with certainty by how the veins branch on the forewings...which is right about where the large black cell-end spot sits...but you have to have specimens to see that with a binocular microscope.
