Observation notes: Hi Mike! Monarchs got a late start here so hope they make it before freezing weather hits. All nine wild larvae I observed have moved off their milkweeds to parts unknown. Additionally, I have 8 chrysalides in an outdoor mesh enclosure, raised on potted swamp. These got a jump start from their siblings as they spent the first two instars in my plant room indoors. I have high hopes they will be out of here before it gets too cold. Will wrap enclosures (Monarch and Giant) with bubble wrap tonight to protect against chilly lows in the upper 30's. Then we're back to nice weather for at least another week. As always, thank you for your interest. Char

Coordinator notes: Surprisingly, the Monarch is tough...I expect they have all emerged by now and heading south. They were very scarce in the Denver area (where my son lives)...he saw no adults and no larvae on the plants growing where he works. I only saw two here in western Colorado this summer but I didn't not get to a lot of places this summer due to drought and heat. Mike
