Observation notes: Was on concrete stairwell, outside, leading down to my basement. ---- easily convinced them onto my hand ---- tonight's our 2nd predicted "frost warning" of the season and I wanted to protect them from the night's cold (I'm not sure why I thought to do this; I knew nothing about moths until just an hour ago after looking up this species) I've brought him inside and given him a safe place to rest; I can find no data online to inform me if this species is one that "adults through winter", so I have no idea if I'm actually helping them, or if they are naturally supposed to die outside when freezing temperatures come.

Coordinator notes: Great job identifying this moth. I, too, don't know if it overwinters as an adult, but I don't think so based on other similar sp.
