Coordinator notes: Looks like it to me. Found this statement on BugGuide -- "According to MONA Fascicle 6-2, Nites atrocapitella is the only species within the genus that can safely be identified without dissection."

As far as I can tell from MPG there are 5 species of Nites in North America.
There are listings for Nites species on BAMONA but the links only consist of symbols which I think means that these were dissected specimens.
I'm going to ask about adding an addition to the list for just Nites sp.
Note from Roger Downer re: request to add Nites sp.
"In the meantime I have checked my copy of MONA fascicle 6-2 and there are indeed five northeastern species but as stated on bugguide 'atrocapitella is the only species of Nites which can be recognized on maculation. The others, in series, tend to show a distinctive uniformity of color and shading that makes it possible to determine individuals provided that adequate comparative material is at hand. For accurate determination of individual specimens genital characters should be examined."
