Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Was observed as a smooth greenish caterpillar with two rows of black dashes tangled in the roots of bluegrass I was clearing from my garden. My son wanted to raise him through metamorphosis so we could attempt to identify the adult. We fed him grass, which he readily ate. His base color changed from green to brown during our care. After a few weeks, the caterpillar pupated. Pupa was bare and reddish brown in color. The moth emerged April 27.
