Observation notes: Papilio indra calcicola, 5th instar caterpillar. This is a spring flying butterfly that uses Lomatium scabrum and Lomatium parryi as larval food plants. As the young fifth instar caterpillars eat and grow the coloration of the whitish band becomes pinkish.
