Pink-spotted hawkmoth
Agrius cingulata

Observation date: August 21, 2011
Submitted by: duke
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I don't think I have seen one this big in Riverside county California or any where else in the USA.
Status: Resident
Verified by: kellyrichers
Verified date: August 22, 2011
Coordinator notes: The body should have pink spots on it on the sides. Very difficult identification without those spots, as it could be Manduca sexta which has yellow or orange spots, but I am pretty sure from the lack of white lines in certain spaces on the forewing that this is cingulata. Kelly
