Observation notes: I spotted several dozen of these... ummm... constructions on the undersides of milkweed leaves in a small open field, one or two per plant. Upon examination, they are firmly 'glued' to the leaf with a dark gluey substance and, while they appear to be a concretion of small twigs, they are rubbery-soft and apparently some type of egg cases or coccoons of a type I've never noticed before. Are they from a butterfly or moth? Or, if not, any guesses as to what they might be?
