Observation notes: Mid day no canopy partly cloudy, ~82F. Feeding on Baptisia (wild false indigo) bought at a local nursery this spring. Not observed on older, established Baptisia or other legumes in the area. Feed individually, seem especially fond of young seed pods. There have been fairly mature instars present for at least 10 days. Because the plant is this years purchase eggs may have present and the caterpillar is out of normal range.
