Pink-spotted hawkmoth
Agrius cingulata

Observation date: September 18, 2012
Submitted by: basmithfwb
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: An indeterminate number of these moths were feeding on the Ipomoea alba (moonflower) blooms on my deck's trellis. BAMONA members will probably be amused that I initially thought they were hummingbirds. A second look, revealing their antennae and probosces, disabused me of the notion. The weather was less humid than normal for the area. Breezy evening, around 80 degrees, clear sky.
