Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: We were in pretty thick woods in the Adirondack Mountains. It was a super hot day but the woods were cool. There were quite a few of them. They stayed at the base of this tree or right on the side of the path in always in groups. I believe they are the same kind but some had slightly varying markings. I'm not sure if this means they are actually a different type. Their black color was striking and the white was pure white.
