Observation notes: I saw it fall to the ground from the Elm tree in my yard. It hit the ground with a muffled thud sound.Weather that day was sunny and upper 70s to low 80s. When I tried to gently move it, it would flutter it's wings and stay in place. So I got a piece of bark it could rest on to try to lift it off the ground. As I lifted the bark it flew away. I observed that it flew strongly like a bird not delicately like a small moth or butterfly. I remember hearing some sound but I think that could have been the sound of its wings.
