Observation notes: The butterfly was perched on the wall of our home in Playa del Rey. It had been there the night before with its wings raised together.

Coordinator notes: This species was unknown in California until 1963 and has only recently extended its range into the Los Angeles Basin. I am still hoping they will extend their range into Kern County though that would be bad for the citrus industry...that is their larval host.
