Coordinator notes: Rather than the usual Tobbaco hornworm (Manduca sexta, despite their name they also feed on tomato), you have a Tomato hornworm (Manduca quinquemaculatus). From what I have seen, it seems that M. quinquemaculatus is much less common in CA, than M. sexta. In the time that I have been a coordinator here on BAMONA, I have verified 21 M. sexta sightings, but only 1 M. quinquemaculatus. Where I live in central CA, M. sexta is a resident, but I have only seen a M. quinquemaculatus once.
