Gray Dagger Moth
Acronicta grisea Walker, 1856

Subfamily: Acontiinae
Identification: Similar to Triton Dagger Moth, but less purplish and more powdery gray; dashes slightly heavier. Hindwing white with brownish shading toward outer margin; more dark shading in male than female.
Wing Span: 3-3.5 cm.
Life History:
Flight: May-August.
Caterpillar Hosts: Alder, apple, birches, elms, poplars, and willows.

Range: Labrador to Connecticut, west across Canada, south to Minnesota.
