Identification: Sexually dimorphic. Lower pm. line sharp, rounded in both sexes. Black oval spots present in lower terminal area. Forewing gray with black streaking in male; shaded with yellowish brown in most of basal and upper median areas in female. Hindwing white in male, gray in female.
Wing Span: 3-4.1 cm.
Life History:
Flight: April-September.
Caterpillar Hosts: Legumes such as clover, lespedeza, locusts, and wild indigo.

Range: Southern Maine and Quebec to Florida, west to Manitoba and Texas.
