Identification: Wings black and translucent except for orange basal half of forewing from costa to vein 1A.
Wing Span: 1.8-2.8 cm.
Life History:
Flight: May-July.
Caterpillar Hosts: Reported feeding on underside of fallen oak leaves.

Range: New York to Florida, west to Manitoba, Missouri, and Mississippi.
