While most users have no trouble submitting their sightings, there are times where a user encounters an error message. Almost all of the time, these messages appear because the submission instructions were not followed correctly. We are trying to make all of the error messages very clear so that users can tell what went wrong and can try again.
If you had trouble submitting a sighting, please try again to submit your sighting BEFORE sending an email through the contact form.
Pay particular attention to the Date and Location fields:
1. Be sure to fill in the Time portion of the Date field.
2. Make certain that you click the "Get Location" button after entering text or a lat/long into the Location field.
If you have tried to resubmit, AND you have double-checked that you followed instructions on the Date and Location fields, AND you still get an error message, then:
3. Please hit the Back button on your browser. Wait 30 seconds. Submit the form again.
If none of these options work, it is time to contact us. Please copy and paste the entire error message into the body of your email so that we can help troubleshoot the issue and potentially fix anything wrong with the system. Without the error message, we can't help. Thank you!
